现场直播12月23日，据意大利日空体育报道，那不勒斯市政府已向全体市民发出通知，征求有关竖立迭戈·马拉多纳雕像的建议。那不勒斯当地艺术家多梅尼科·塞佩(Domenico Sepe)完成了一件精美泥塑的初稿。他在采访中也谈到了对迭戈·马拉多纳的崇拜。
“在我的创作过程中，我把迭戈·马拉多纳想象成一个希腊神，这启发了我的艺术创作。青铜被定义为“永恒的物质”。它可以在世界上存在几百年。里亚彻发现的青铜雕塑就是最好的例子。对于迭戈·马拉多纳的雕像来说，用青铜制成将是完美的。”
多梅尼科-塞普(Domenico-Sepp)在社交媒体上宣布，泥塑初稿最终将被改造成一尊4米高的铜像，他还表示将把铜像无偿捐赠给市政府。
